Identity & classification. Timimoun 002 is the official name of an HED achondrite classified as a diogenite; the name was approved on September 13, 2025. Found in Adrar, Algeria. 
 
Discovery details. Found July 3, 2024 at 29.529°N, 0.546°E; total known mass 4,000 g in 24 pieces; low weathering and moderate shock. 
 
Provenance & curation. The type specimen (34.68 g) is at the Yale Peabody Museum (YPMNH); classification by A. Irving (UWS) and P. Carpenter (WUSL). The main mass is recorded under G. Harkness. 
 
Petrography highlights. Breccia dominated by orthopyroxene (>90 vol%) with unusual non-linear augite exsolution lamellae; accessory anorthite, silica polymorph (with radial expansion cracks), ilmenite, low-Ti chromite, and troilite.
