The storied fall of the Estherville meteorite is quite literally one for the history books! In the spring of 1879, the people in and around Estherville were shocked and excited by a large explosion. Rattling the peace and tranquility of an Iowa day, the intense event stunned onlookers as a great mass decended from the skies! The ensuing fall, littering the fields with rare and wonderful specimens, became known as the Estherville meteorite. This exceedingly rare meteorite is the only one of its kind, classified as a Mesosiderite - A3/4, makes a stunning addition to any collection. This specimen is perfectly prepared and presented and will stand as a lasting testament to what the awestruck citizens of Iowa witnessed those many years ago!
